Meet Bryan Lockley
Bryan Lockley is an exercise and sports science professional based out of Port Orange, Florida. He holds a B.S. in Sports and Fitness and a M.S. in Exercise and Physiology. His wide range of expertise includes athletics, athletic training, athletic management, fitness training, nutrition, and motivation. From high school, to college, and beyond Lockley has found a number of opportunities to demonstrate and expand on his skill set. Bryan has accrued a number of certifications and titles, including a membership with the Florida Chiropractic Association, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and the National Association of Sports Medicine.
In every aspect of his work, Bryan Lockley aims never to overlook the human element involved. Lockley believes that the human element should take front-and-center. People are more than just athletics machines. They are complex beings, which require nuanced and individualized systems of motivation and support. Bryan Lockley: Sports Origins
Since he was a child, Bryan Lockley has always been drawn to sports and athletics. This natural appreciation for athletics and the attitudes that go with it mean that as Bryan grew older, he became more and more interested in pursuing something in athletics as a career. When Bryan graduated high school and went to college, he finally had a chance to turn his passion into his career. However he began exploring a career in sports even before college. He originally started when he joined the University of Central Florida’s Basketball Summer Camp and both a counselor and a coach. While working there, Bryan coached children that ranged in age from 1st grade to 10th grade.
The time that Bryan spent working with his coaches and classmates proved formative and telling of his future in athletics. By the time that Bryan graduated high school, he knew that he wanted to dedicate his career to athletics and exercise. With a number of letters of recommendations in hand, Bryan ventured into the next stage of his career.
Bryan Lockley: Sports and Sports Management In Practice
After four years of intensive study, Bryan Lockley graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Sports and Fitness. While attending the university, Bryan got hands on experience in coaching and managing an athletic team by becoming the student manager for the basketball team his freshman year and continuing in this position until graduation. While student manager, he was not only involved in developing travel schedules, but he also participated in drills, filmed the practices for future study, and assisted the coaches whenever and wherever they needed him.
While at the University of Central Florida, Bryan Lockley not only got hands-on experience with managing and training a team, he also managed to do so under some of the best players and coaches in the game such as Kirk Speraw, Craig Brown, Dwight Evans, and Micah Byars. Bryan also got to be part of both the basketball team as well as the football team. This taught him the important differences between different teams and how there’s no single cookie-cutter way to manage a team. When the different players, positions, and personalities came into play, Bryan was forced to adapt become a flexible coach and manager. This ability to be flexible was a vital skill to learn and it has served Bryan well throughout the years.
Due to his experiences and skills in athletics, athletic training, and athletic management, Bryan Lockley has been able to work a wide variety of roles at different organizations once he graduated. Among his highest achievements are the fact that he was the personal trainer for professional athletes. Two of his better known clients are Brandon Meriweather, a former NFL player for the New England Patriots, and Jermaine Taylor, a NBA player for the Sacramento Kings. Bryan also holds a number of certifications and affiliations with both athletic and training organizations.
